IHR Strengthening One Health team attends the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission Validation Workshop in Cote D’Ivoire

Dilys Morgan, Consultant in Global Public Health, attended the ECOWAS Commission Validation workshop for the ECOWAS Regional One Health (OH) strategy and OH Coordination governance mechanisms, held 30^thOctober – 2^nd November 2022.

The workshop was aimed at fostering networking and trust-buildingbetween the human, animal, and environmental health sectors across the ECOWAS region. The workshop brought together OH stakeholders from ECOWAS Member States and institutions, international partners and non-state actors to consult on progress made in operationalising the Regional OH Governance Manual and the development of a regional OH strategy. The workshop was attended by over 100 participants.

Dilys Morgan had the opportunity to present on the the work of UKHSA in West Africa, and was also invited to sit on the final Panel Discussion on the way forward for the Regional OH Governance Manual (R-OHGM) and the Regional OH-Strategy.

The event also provided an excellent opportunity to meet with colleagues and key contacts from our partners from West African countries, as well as highlighting the work and impact of UKHSA in the region.
