The IHR Project’s Consultant in One Health, Osman Dar is one of 26 experts appointed to the advisory panel.

In March 2021, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) put out a joint call for One Health practitioners to establish a global One Health High Level Expert Panel (OHHLEP).

The OHHLEP panel was commissioned to provide guidance on One Health-related matters that support improved cooperation among governments by providing evidence-based scientific and policy advice to the FAO, OIE, UNEP and WHO.

Last month, one of PHE’s IHR Strengthening Project’s Consultants in One Health, Dr Osman Dar was appointed as one of the 26 international experts for the OHHLEP from a pool of over 700 international applicants. The members for the multidisciplinary panel were selected based on their expert technical knowledge, skills and experience in One Health.

Osman is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) and of the Faculty of Public Health at the Royal College of Physicians (London). His impressive resume of public health experience also includes his position as Director of the Global Health Programme’s One Health project at Chatham House, London.
